Introduction - Section A

This is my blog for the Media Studies exam.

The Questions:

1a) Candidates need to describe and evaluate their development in skill over the course of their production work, from the AS Foundation Portfolio to the A2 Advanced Portfolio. This evaluation must concentrate on skills development and the question itself will specify one or two specific production practices for the answer to be adapted to. The list of practices is as follows:

  • Digital technology
  • Creativity
  • Research and planning
  • Post-production
  • Conventions from real media texts
(20 marks)

1b) Candidates will select one of their productions (the strongest) and evaluate it in relation to a media concept. The exam will focus on one of the following concepts:
  • Genre
  • Narrative
  • Representation
  • Audience
  • Media language
  • Concepts (Propp, Strauss, Barthes, Todorov)
(22 marks)
